Launch during the markets

Cassovia Hostel already operates as an urban hostel in the historic centre of Košice. It is the first completed phase of a broader renovation of the building — an operation that simultaneously validates demand, builds the brand and lays the foundation for further capacity expansion.

Opening during the Christmas markets in Košice captured one of the city's strongest tourist events — an immediate kick-off of reviews and data.
Context, strategy & details

The opening in November 2025 was deliberately timed to the period of Advent and the Christmas markets in Košice — one of the city's strongest tourist events. The launch therefore immediately generated the first ratings, reviews and data on real guest behaviour.

The location at Mäsiarska 58 is among the best in the city — walking distance to St Elisabeth's Cathedral, Hlavná street, Hrnčiarska street (the gastronomic zone), the State Theatre and the East Slovak Gallery. For a 1–3 night urban stay, the address is the decisive factor, and this one is at the very top.

The target clientele is broad: foreign tourists discovering eastern Slovakia, Slovak weekend guests, parents of UPJŠ and TUKE students, lower-budget business travellers, groups and solo travellers alike. The hostel covers a segment where Košice has historically had the weakest offering.

Phase 1 functions as a pilot for the entire concept — testing pricing, channels (Booking, Hostelworld, direct), operational processes, reviews and guest profile. This data directly shapes the design of Phase 2 (cellars, bar, wellness) and Phase 3 (attic, rooftop terrace).

From an investment perspective, it is important that the operation generates cash flow already during further construction. This reduces the pressure on external financing and enables a flexible schedule for the subsequent phases based on real performance.
